It all started with organizing a business event and invitations. The ever so smooth procrastination crept in and before I knew it, another week had passed. Optimistic that more than enough people would line up to attend, I started sending out invitations and connecting with my network.
"Too busy."
"I am working evening shifts that day."
"Its my birthday."
"Its someone else's birthday."
Discouraged and slightly startled by the responses, I got in touch with my mentor and we discussed some details around the event as well as the guest list. Then he said something that hit a massive trigger:
"The most important thing is that YOU go first." Along a few other details that I will not enclose, I felt like my ego and pride was on the chopping board. Just a few right words awoke a feeling that it was time to either rise to the challenge or give up.
I chose the first.

The amount of work that I have done the past 3 days has given more results than the past 2 months. Incredible huh? I identified so many great people whom I had lost touch with or forgotten about since the past few years and booked in over 15 appointments.
In a business where the human touch is vital, networking is a skill to be mastered. And what better way to learn than to have a mentor who is 50 steps ahead and wants the best for you?
Do you have a mentor in your network or business who guides you?
Best,
Alex
